The popular Natural Sequence Farming Course was fully booked for the four day course from 30th August to 2nd September. This is the second NSF course to be held at Dulacca Downs, home of Philip and Adele Hughes.
Participants, keen to gain a greater understanding of how the natural landscape functions, travelled from near and far to attend the course, staying at the Dulacca Pink Pub or motels in Miles. They came from the South West, Central West, Dawson Valley, North Burnett, Western Downs, Darling Downs, the Scenic Rim, even the Sunshine Coast.
Stuart Andrews of Tarwyn Park Training conducted the course with the assistance of co-presenter Adam Wilson. The Tarwyn Park Training team teach the principles of Natural Sequence Farming and how to implement them into any operation.
Stuart shares his, and father Peter Andrews‘, knowledge of the way that the natural landscape would have once operated before human intervention, the key behind this being plants and water. He demonstrates methods to rehabilitate, regenerate and rehydrate the landscape, empowering participants to create change within their own property landscapes. Participants leave with a set of methodologies and practical actions that can be implemented, in order to improve degraded land and increase farm productivity.
Morning sessions were spent in the relaxed, ambient surrounds of the old Dulacca Downs shearing shed covering the theory side of Natural Sequence Farming, followed by afternoons out in the paddocks to learn by actually ‘doing’.
Funds were raised for the Lachlan Hughes Foundation through the catering during the four days. A casual course dinner was held around the rock fireplace and gabion in the garden on Wednesday evening. Participants, presenters, family and guests were treated to a camp oven dinner of traditional beef stew, butter chicken, rice and greens cooked by family friend Bob Nixon and followed with a scrumptious dessert. We thank everyone who attended for their generosity and support of the Foundation.
The next Natural Sequence Farming Course to be held at Dulacca Downs will be in late August 2022.
